Special Event Community Closure Details

Dear Residents, Merchants & Neighborhood Associations:
This letter is to inform you that the sixth annual Running of the Elk Half Marathon and THRIVE 5K/10K & Fun Run is coming to an area near you on Sunday, April 2nd, 2017.
A traffic plan has been created, and road closures and detours will be in effect from 6:30 am to 12:30 pm at the following locations:
Here are the closures for the April 2nd event.
• The event starts on Longleaf Drive and this location will be closed starting Saturday afternoon.
• Laguna Springs will be closed to through traffic from 7:00-11:00am.
• Elk Grove Blvd between Big Horn and Auto Center will be closed from 7:00-9:00am.
• The entire Auto Center area will be closed from 7:00-9:00am.
• W. Stockton between the Auto Mall and Lent Ranch Parkway will be closed from 7:00-9:00am.
• Emerald Vista between Gem Crest and E. Stockton will be closed from 7:00-10:00am. Local residents will be allowed access via escort and it is recommended plans be made in advance due to anticipated delays.
• Lujan between Emerald Vista and Terra Linda will be closed from 7:00-10:00am. Local residents will be allowed access via escort and it is recommended plans be made in advance due to anticipated delays.
• Halverson between Terra Linda and Elk Grove Florin will be closed from 7:00-10:00am. Local residents will be allowed access via escort and it is recommended plans be made in advance due to anticipated delays.
• Elk Grove Florin Road between Bond Road and Elk Grove Blvd Road will be closed from 7:00-10:00am. Local residents will be allowed access via escort and it is recommended plans be made in advance due to anticipated delays.
• One westbound lane of Elk Grove Blvd will be blocked with the speed limit reduced to 25 mph between Elk Grove Florin Road and the creek trail before Emerald Oak. Residents will be allowed access via Williamson which will be controlled so expect delays.

We invite you to come out and support our participants! Race activities begin at 7:00 am at 8260 Long Leaf Drive, Elk Grove, CA. Proceeds from the event benefit the Elk Grove Youth Sports Foundation (EGYSF), an Elk Grove non-profit organization created to ensure that all Elk Grove children have an equal opportunity to be involved in sports. EGYSF provides annual scholarships for children ages 5-12 years for a variety of athletic activities.
